About Us
FAITH IN ACTION SINCE 1939

Join Rev. Dr. Kenneth J. L. Anderson for the inspiring 'I Need Thee Gospel Hour.' Tune in live every Sunday at 9 PM and Monday at 6 PM Pacific for uplifting messages and music.

Founded in 1939, Williams Chapel Baptist Church is a historic Black church where worship becomes action and faith builds community. Under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Kenneth J.L. Anderson, we serve Oakland through affordable housing, care for seniors and families, education, economic opportunity, social justice, and the love of Jesus Christ. We believe the Church should worship, build, feed, teach, shelter, heal, and uplift.

JESUS - We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He is one with God, and that He was sent here for our salvation.

HOLY SPIRIT - He is called the "Promise of the Father", given by Christ as a gift to the Church, to empower the Church for service to God, to place God's love in our hearts.  We are to grow in our experience of the Holy Spirit for the rest of our lives.

Meet The First Family
The Andersons

Family is at the center of God’s plan for the happiness and progress of His children. The Holy Bible teaches that God established families from the very beginning, and it shows us many examples of strong families. It also teaches us how to have a loving, happy family.

From the beginning, God blessed and encouraged families, commanding Adam and Eve to “be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth” (Genesis 1:28).
