East Bay Urban Alliance
(EBUA)

Uniting Black Workers for Economic and Racial Justice

Mission

To eliminate Black poverty by increasing access to quality jobs, improving the quality of jobs in industries employing Black workers, and reducing employment discrimination.

Vision

The East Bay Urban Alliance seeks to promote economic and racial justice, peace, and prosperity in the Bay Area by eliminating poverty and wage theft, expanding access to livable-wage jobs, and reforming corporate and policy practices that perpetuate inequality.

Our Focus Areas

  • Community Building

  • Strategizing & Political Advocacy

  • Know Your Rights Education

  • Why We Must Organize

Bay Area Residents Stated:

"There is not enough availability in the workforce when you are Black."

"I don't want to settle for a job that doesn't pay well."

"We (Black people) need more unity to succeed."

Why This Matters

Black communities in the Bay Area experience:

  • Twice the unemployment rate of white counterparts

  • Overrepresentation in low-wage, no-benefit jobs

  • Discrimination despite equal qualifications

  • Attacks on unions that historically uplifted Black workers

EBUA is the voice, strategy, and movement that fights back.
